Where is Tumbarumba?
“Tumba” as it is known locally, is a tidy village of 1500 persons some 160 kms north-east of Albury nestled in a basin in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, and 5 Ballarat Rotacyclists with 1 pillion left early on Friday on the 560 km journey in bright sunshine, arriving in Tumba around 4.00 pm.
After settling in to our excellent accommodation and relaxing after the long ride, we joined the other
Rotacyclists who had ridden from Melbourne, Shepparton, Phillip Island, Loxton, and Lockhart for refreshments at the Tumba Hotel followed by “country” size meals, some more refreshments, and much noisy fellowship back in the very busy main bar which appeared to be catering for most of the population !
On Saturday morning all but 4 of the Rotacyclists left for a 200 km ride into the Snowy Mountains and the upper catchment of the Murray River, again in bright sunshine, enjoying the company and the excellent riding conditions.
Saturday’s evening meal was again at the hotel in rather quieter surrounds; a very convivial dinner being enjoyed by all. The head count was 24members and friends.
With long distances to cover most got away to an early start on Sunday morning, once again in bright sunshine. Excellent riding conditions prevailed all weekend.
As a ride and “meet-and-greet” it was a "Some light refreshments after a long ride ! "
great success only slightly tarnished by the small turn-out of 15 motorcyclists.
